Need a Challenge? Try This one! 

30 Day/100 Mile Check In

Time to check in on the 30 day/100 mile challenge – “it’s only been a week…sheesh!”

Accomplishments: I made it into the green on the Nike run app that means you have more than 150 miles under your belt!! woot woot!!

Struggles: Workout Gear

The biggest struggle so far on this challenge is my workout gear – I don’t know if it’s because I’ve lost a little weight and my leggings are too loose or maybe my stomach is so round that the elastic band just keeps sliding down…either way I want to RIP OUT MY HAIR when I forget and wear them for a run.

 

Look at them…they’re cute and all but there is nothing worse than trying to run 3+ miles and having to hold up your pants in one hand and your phone and keys in the other…ugh!

So when do you buy new workout clothes if your losing weight? I mean, if I’m dropping pounds then I don’t want to spend my hard earned cash on something that will soon be too big.

But, who wants to run out in public looking like a bum? #TheStruggle (Hit me up with suggestions in the comments please!!)

But besides all that I’m loving this challenge… a little sore..but sore is good, right?

Raise your hand if your one of those people who absolutely NEED a #WorkoutBuddy to get you pumped for fitness. The STRUGGLE is so real that you’d rather have someone with you to ease the pain of your next fitness bootcamp.

Some Buddy Motivation for you!!

For me it took years for to understand how a ‘solo burn’ could be so cathartic – but don’t get me wrong #TeamWorkMakesTheDreamWork and here’s why….

  • Consider it a date – A time to catch up with your bestie or a new gal pal – your burning calories and finding time to make sure your buddies aren’t neglected.
  • Eating out can be counter productive – If you have a fitness goal to reach having a fitness buddy can keep you from spending at the bar or eating out. Someone who’s just as motivated to reach those goals!!  So why not go for a walk instead?

If having a #FitnessFriend won’t cramp your style here’s some tips to nab a team!!

  • Join a Fitness meet up group – these are great because your out there meeting new people who want to accomplish the same thing.
  • Take your pup for a walk at a park – If your pooch is as cute as this one…your sure to nab a workout partner along the trail, HECK you may even nab a #BooThing (Wink Wink). 
  • Finally, use a fitness app like Nike +, not only will the app send your cheers along your run via Facebook, but you can join a number of challenges with friends to keep you on track! (Ain’t nothing like some good ol’ competition) 

When you do finally land that #FitnessBuddy try these workouts best done with a homie!!

The Best Month to Start a 100 Mile Challenge

In Houston the summer months can be like living in hell, literally! That’s why I love October…October is the month where God turned on the A/C.

It’s also my favorite because it’s the month I was born.

This October I’ve decided to give myself the gift of #FITNESS. For one month I will run/walk ONE HUNDRED MILES! Tracking it all on my #NIKE+ running app.

Now, I know what your thinking – “Girl you crazy” – and truthfully I might be. (Just a little bit) but when you break it down its not that bad, you literally only have to do 3.33 miles a day for 30 days! (so it’s doable, and plus there’s a trail in my neighborhood that’s a perfect 3 mile loop)


I hope you follow along with me as I try and reach my 100 mile goal. I’m sure there will be days that I don’t want to go but my plan is to PUSH myself across the finish line.
